Railcam’s 10th Anniversary/Christmas meet up

It’s that time of the year again, when we plan a little get together, over a few drinks, for the annual Railcam Christmas Meet Up.

This year we will be meeting in York on Saturday 30th November to see friends old and new, so if you would like to come along then we plan to meet at the superb York Tap, on Platform 3, before heading in to town.

Make a note in your diary, come along and say hello, it will be a cracking day out.

An added bonus will see two railtours visiting York,

GB Railfreight’s 50007 & 50049 provide the traction for Pathfinder Tours The Festive York & Durham Explorer, expected to arrive around 12:00 and return at 18:00. (Provisional timings)

Railway Touring Company’s The York Yuletide Express arrives at 13:22, lead by A4 No. 60009 Union of South Africa, with the return leg departing at 16:55 with Princess Coronation Class No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland in charge.

It is now confirmed that admin will be arriving in York from around 09:00, and we will meet in the York Tap from 10:00. We will take the rest of the day from there…..

Come and join us for a pint or two if you can.

    1. A Railcam meet up is generally a ‘take it as it comes’ event. We have no idea who or how many will turn up. In this case we will meet in the York Tap on the station, probably between 10 and 11am and take it from there. The admin team do need to nip out for a quick meeting but other than that it will either involve drinks around the station area or a quick walk in to the city centre. Much depends on numbers, weather, how busy it is………. the list goes on.

Either way, if we can’t be located, drop us a Facebook or Twitter message on the day and we will try and keep people informed where we are.

  1. OK, I see. I was also wondering about the comments traffic interruptions that weekend. Do you know if this will affect London-York line?

  2. I’m sad to say I won’t be able to join you again this year. I walk past the York Tap several times every week and work at the NRM at least one day a week, but this weekend clashes with the Inside Track Christmas weekend in Oxfordshire and I will be visiting the GWSR that day. Have a good time!

  3. I was intending to come down from Scotland to meet up for the first time with Simon, and fellow former Dawlish Moderator colleagues, before we discovered Railcam were celebrating 10 years with a meet up in York on the 30th. We unfortunately decided to cancel our get together due to Engineering work, as this would have added additional time for myself returning to Scotland, as well as Simon potentially enduring a 4 hour journey to return home going via Lincoln. I hope everyone who manages to attend, enjoy their day.

  4. The day was a great success for me personally.
    DOS made an appearance.
Jimmy gave me a couple of railway photography books.
Geoff gave me his spares of 50p’s which my friend Sophie needs and also
3-4 thousand stamps which I now have to trim for our mission fund at church.
Then John 45305 gave me a lift back to Sandwell.
    Bostin day.
